In my brief time of being married looking back, I can see I did a lot of Knucklehead s***. There were things that I did that really didn't take how my wife felt into consideration. Even though I had lost everything that I work for when it came to my family and having a family,by not taking how she felt when it came to certain things in the consideration, it gave me hindsight and even though I had a late realization it made me better in the long run.
There were things like past friendships and my former occupation as a club promoter that she wasn't comfortable with and I never sat back to say hey let me put myself in her shoes, maybe I should take her perspective. Now looking at it I apply this to every aspect of life so I can understand how people feel about things.
I recently had a discussion with a younger man that I mentor. At the time he happened to be taking a break from his job and have been on Rocky terms with his woman so he stayed away for a week the whole time he was off. It's ironic because I had done the same thing in my marriage we were having trouble and I left for a week just to take a break clear my head which at the time I thought was okay. The day I was returning to go fight for my marriage I found out she wanted a divorce. The thing that I didn't realize at the time it is from her shoes I was leaving the fight our fight to be together I abandon ship, but from my shoes, I needed to get out clear my head and come back and figure it all out. LET ME BE CLEAR I'm not saying to hold on to and fight for a relationship that is purely toxic, But by putting yourself in your partner's shoes before its too late you can save yourself a lot of trouble.
So I told the young man that from now on he should always think about things from her perspective and would he be okay if she was doing the things that he was doing. So my message today is to always try to put yourself in the other person's shoes always try to see things from their perspective so you can understand. I think that's even a rule in The Art of War(Man Shit, Read It!).Don't be a blockhead bro try seeing different views.Mr. Jones is Man tips are based on personal life experiences and are used to help others not make the same mistakes.
